9 to 5 Working Women Education Fund provides legal rights information
and leadership development for low-wage working women. Also offers
public education and advocacy to improve the workplace for all
Tours eight original, issue-oriented plays to schools throughout
Georgia about community concerns including conflict resolution,
teen pregnancy, literacy, substance abuse and school violence.
COALITION OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA (Athens)
Offers a wide range of services to its clients, including case
management, support groups and a buddy program.
EDUCATION & SERVICES FOR MINORITIES
Provides education/prevention to people of color (primarily African-Americans)
on the facts about HIV/AIDS, and related practical psycho-social
support, housing, food and financial assistance.
Caring for our community, AG provides supportive services to people
living with HIV/AIDS and public awareness through community education
programs in Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale counties.
Each year our programs use advocacy, education, treatment activism
and peer support, to provide over 6,000 people the tools for living
a quality life with HIV.
OF GEORGIA FOUNDATION
Defends civil liberties through public education and by litigating
precedent-setting legal questions to protect the rights of all
Artists and Communities
A coalition of artists committed to social change, Alternate ROOTS
supports original performing art that is rooted in a particular
community of place, tradition, or spirit.
PROJECT (Statesboro and Augusta)
Provides support groups for people with HIV/AIDS, financial assistance,
peer counseling, transportation assistance, community outreach
prevention, advocacy and referral for clinical services.
AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY (Athens)
Works with donors, volunteers and homeowners to build decent,
affordable housing for God's people in need and to make shelter
a matter of conscience.
FEMINIST WOMEN'S CHORUS
A non-auditioned community chorus that honors the unity, strength
and diversity of women through musical expression and social action.
HARM REDUCTION CENTER
Offers street outreach/education targeted towards reducing the
harm caused by drug use. We present harm reduction trainings and
workshops for individuals and groups.
LESBIAN CANCER INITIATIVE
Supports lesbians with cancer, their partners, families and friends.
Services include support groups, caregivers' groups, bereavement
groups, resource library, volunteer services and physicians list.
FOR BLACK WOMEN'S WELLNESS
Promotes health and well-being through information, preventative
health care services, teen pregnancy prevention activities and
ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSES
Provides free physical, mental and preventative health care to
over 7,000 homeless and medically underserved women, adolescents
and children in metropolitan Atlanta each year.
PROGRAM (Achieving Change through Theatre-in-Education)
EN-ACTE is a peer-based program for teens, ages 13-21. Original,
cutting-edge theatre is used to educate teens about sexual decision-making.
WOMEN'S HEALTH CENTER
Empowers women by providing quality gynecological health care,
community health education, informed decision-making and advocacy
for all women's choices and health.
FOR SOUTHERN COMMUNITIES
Supports small community groups working for environmental justice,
women's rights, youth development, lesbian/gay rights, disability
rights, workers' rights and civil rights.
ABORTION & REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS ACTION LEAGUE (GARAL)
GARAL is committed to protecting women's rights to make personal
decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, accomplishing
goals by involving people in the political process.
Georgia Organics promotes sustainable, organic growing -- a food
and agriculture system that is economically profitable, environmentally
sound and beneficial to rural communities and society in general.
Works to keep abortion legal by educating the public, press, and
elected officials about diminishing access to abortion, clinic
violence and contraception.
RAPE CRISIS CENTER
Sexual assault victims and their families/friends receive direct
services including a 24-hour hotline, psychological, medical and
legal support, and professional and community education.
Partners with over 100 community-based agencies and 31 public
schools to engage a corps of 20,000 Atlanta volunteers in service
each day of the year.
Works to end men's violence against women. We educate the public,
train professionals, influence public policy and provide classes
for batterers and at-risk teens.
FORD MEMORIAL COMMITTEE (Bishop)
Offers scholarships for high school seniors themed towards
justice and racial reconciliation as a living memorial
to four African Americans lynched in Walton County.
Facilitates culturally sensitive mental health and preventative
programs for people affected by HIV/AIDS.
Delivers two freshly prepared meals, seven days a week, to Atlantans
living with AIDS/HIV related illnesses, other critical illnesses,
and homebound seniors.
COUNSELING CENTER OF N.E. GEORGIA (Athens, Greensboro, Madison)
Provides team-oriented, cost-efficient counseling, education,
and consultation which emphasizes the inter-relatedness of body,
mind, spirit and community.
HOUSE OF ATLANTA/CAFE 458
Provides multiple services to homeless individuals. Services include
employment readiness support, Cafe 458 meals/case management,
voice mail and transitional housing.
RESOURCE CENTER TO END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Domestic violence impacts families and communities. We strengthen
community commitment to ending violence against women while supporting
survivors by providing shelter and other needed services.
Offers a safe, comfortable space for Atlanta's gay, lesbian, bisexual,
transgender and questioning youth, providing support services,
educational and social activities.
